About J. René Ward and the Best Agents in Texas teamJ. Rene WardJ. René Ward is a REALTOR licensed in the state of Texas and is the proud Broker/Owner of the Best Agents In Texas real estate firm. Ms. Ward has been a marketing executive for several years (Vice President of Marketing at TManage; Director of Marketing at Dell Computer Corporation, Senior Director of Marketing at Toshiba America and various marketing positions at IBM). She now brings that same marketing professionalism to real estate. René received her bachelor degrees in Education and Graphic Design from The Philadelphia College of the Arts and M.B.A. in Marketing, with a minor in Human Resources, from Nova University. She is a member of the National Association of Female Executives and the Vice President of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women. A member of The National Association of Realtors, Texas Association of Realtors and Austin Association of Real Estate Brokers.
In her first year, René was granted the "Rookie of the Year" award by the Williamson County Board of Realtors. In 2003 she obtained the following designations: ABR, GRI and CRS. In May of 2004, Rene received her broker's license and ventured out to begin J. Rene, Realtors and develop the Best Agents In Texas Team. 2004 ended with J. Rene being awarded the "Realtor of the Year" by the Williamson County Association or Realtors. At the beginning of 2005 J. Rene received her ePRO designation and became a Luxury Home Marketing Specialist. With her dynamic sense of business, marketing and real estate she is convinced that she and her team will provide each client with an experience worthy of referrals. In December 2005, Rene was elected to the Board of Directors of the Williamson County Board of Realtors for a one-year term.

I work solely on commission, with no retainer or stipend from either my clients or my Broker. I receive a percentage of the commission fee that is paid to the Broker by the seller when the home goes to settlement. The percentage I receive from my Broker varies based on a sale (70%) versus a lease (80%).
If a listing broker charges 6% or 7% to sell your house, they usually offer half that fee to the selling broker through the MLS, retaining the other half (see table below). How does my Customer Appreciation Program work? Depending upon which program you choose, I still offer the competitive 3% to 4% of our total fee to the selling broker. So even though you pay less, there is just as great an incentive for other real estate agents to show your home as if you were paying a 6% or 7% fee.Remember that most real estate agents work on commission, so the more a seller offers the selling broker, the more incentive agents have to show your home.
How are commission fees split?
In many cases, the listing broker will keep half or more of the total commission, and pay the difference to the selling ("Co-op") broker. The brokers, in turn, split their fee with the respective listing/selling agent (that's ME) in accordance with their internal percentage agreements. As an example, a 7% commission — assuming equal split between the brokers and the agents — would be distributed as follows:
